Modeling contests

April 26, 2007 § 5 Comments

Recently I’ve had folks ask me about becoming a model in SL. Now keep in mind I’m not a professional in this realm. But I’ve read a little bit of news on that subject recently. So I’m going to cover it for all you aspiring models out there.

First we have: Aspire!

Aspire Modeling Agency is looking for 1 model. It will be a 7 week long process according to their blog. They initially want a portfolio (notecard) with 2 photos: a headshot and a swimsuit shot. They are accepting open applications until April 30th at their HQ lobby on Aspire Isle. At that time they will narrow the selection down to 15 contestants. Details are in their blog. Follow the link.

Next we have: Lacoste

This is a French based corporation (as far as I can tell) that seems to be looking for a few faces in SL. They are looking for 6 models (3 males and 3 females). You can still enter at this time. Enter up to 4 photos on the website, these must be .jpg files that are 100Kb or smaller. Yes, this makes for tiny photos, but no one consulted me, I’m just passing along the info. Voting begins April 30th. On May 7th they will narrow the selection down to 100 avatars (currently over 400 have thrown their hat in the ring. On May 11th the 6 winners will be chosen by the panel. Follow the link.

I’m really glad that you chose to blog about this. I was a bit turned off by the fact that there are fashion bloggers out there who were well aware of the Lacoste competition, and even entered – but neglected to blog about it to let others know. A bit selfish, non?

Anyway, Thank you 🙂 Keep up the great work!

I cant find where on their website (lacoste) it is? Any hints? Or is that part of the challenge?

  • Tanya Book says:

This morning it was the top rectangle on the flash part of the site. It just said “do you want to be a model” and had like a RL person on the banner.

  • Seraphine says:

Everyone wants to be a model, but few really make the effort.

I get 1-3 applications a day about joining my modeling agency. 99% of them come from people with either no experience, no payment record on file, no photos or (most often) no clue.

The other truth is there are fewer modeling jobs available than the number of people who truly want to work.

    It takes commitment.
